I have a fond appreciation for brutal honesty, and by that I mean the truth even if it hurts, intellect, insight, foresight, and hindsight for it is these things that are the seeds of knowledge.

Throughout history and to this very day there have been many men and women, good at heart and rotten to the core who have planted these seeds in us, and in many cases those seeds have sprouted and taken strong root while others have a way of killing every seed that is ever offered. I hope some of these seeds take root if they haven’t already and if they have then let the following words be a reminder to water those that have grown in us.

If you know of a bit of wisdom that has stuck itself in your mind or another good quote from someone else by all means feel free to share in the comment section below.

A few things that have crossed my own mind:

Winston Churchill, “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it” and I believe that to be true, and if it also be true that there is another revolution coming, and I also believe that to be true, then this revolution had better be a revolution of the human mind and spirit, because history shows that the spilling of blood only leads to more bloodshed.”

“Ignorance is a lack of knowledge, curable by acquiring knowledge, while stupidity is willful ignorance for which there is no known cure.”

“Ignorance is not only suffered by the ignorant, but sufferable by another whom might possess the intellect or intuition to recognize it as the obstacle it truly is.”

“Of all the infirmities that mankind was born to suffer it is ignorance that I find the least tolerable, because ignorance is often the easiest to cure, and the most difficult to convince a man that it is he who suffers from it.”

“Irony: A poor man sees his last penny as the sole indication of his slavery, and throws it away. A rich man finds the penny, and puts it in his pocket all the while believing that he has somehow added to his wealth.”

A few things that have crossed the minds of other people:

“Boy, if you’re looking for sympathy, you’ll find it in the dictionary between shit and syphilis.”
— My father, Hollis Earl Skidmore (1923-1994)

“The law perverted! And the police powers of the state perverted along with it! The law, I say, not only turned from its proper purpose but made to follow an entirely contrary purpose! The law became the weapon of every kind of greed! Instead of checking crime, the law itself guilty of the evils it is supposed to punish!
If this is true, it is a serious fact, and moral duty requires me to call the attention of my fellow-citizens to it.”
— Frederic Bastiat; The Law; English translation 1853

“The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”
— Margaret Thatcher

The democracy will cease to exist when you take from those who are willing to work and give to those who are not.
— Thomas Jefferson

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism but, under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”
He went on to say: “I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democrat Party has adopted our platform.”
— Norman Mattoon Thomas: Socialist Party candidate for President of the U.S. 1944 speech

“We shall have world government, whether or not we like it. The question is only whether world government will be achieved by consent or by conquest.”
— James Paul Warburg

“The faults of the burglar are the qualities of the financier.”
— George Bernard Shaw

“Most people prefer to believe that their leaders are just and fair even in face of evidence to the contrary, because once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which he lives is lying and corrupt, the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it. To take action in the face of a corrupt government entails risk of harm to life and loved ones. To choose to do nothing is to surrender one’s self image of standing for principals. Most people don’t have the courage to face that choice. Hence, most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker, but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all.”
— Michael Revero

“Lawyers spend a great deal of time shoveling smoke.”
— Oliver Wendell Holmes

“Non-violence is a powerful and just weapon. It is a weapon unique in history, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it. It is a sword that heals.”
— Martin Luther King, Jr.

“The solution to a problem changes the nature of the problem.”
— John Peers

“If you have no defense, attack the character of the plaintiff”
— Anomalous lawyer

“Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people.”
— Eleanore Roosevelt,

“To beat the bureaucracy, make your problem their problem.”
— Marshall L. Smith

“I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”
— Elie Wiesel quotes

“I don’t know if the world is full of smart men bluffing, or imbeciles who mean it.”
— Comic strip artist Morrie Brickman

“A reasonable man adapts himself to his environment. An unreasonable man persists in attempting to adapt his environment to suit himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
— George Bernard Shaw

“There are four boxes to be used in the defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury and ammo. Please use in that order.”
— Ed Howdershelt

“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out– Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out– Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out– Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me–and there was no one left to speak for me.”
— Martin Niemöller

Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.
— Steve Jobs

“Why Do I Succeed? I succeed because I am willing to do the things you are not. I will fight against the odds. I will sacrifice. I am not shackled by fear, insecurity, or doubt. I feel those emotions drink them in and then swallow them away to the blackness of hell. I am motivated by accomplishment, not pride. Pride consumes the weak-kills their heart from within. If I fall, I will get up. If I am beaten, I will return. I will never stop getting better. I will never give up, ever. That is why I succeed.”
— Anonymous

“Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.”

“A wise and frugal Government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government, and this is necessary to close the circle of our felicities.”

“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.”
— Thomas Jefferson

“Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
— Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman, and Robert Livingston; also signed by John Hancock and Charles Thomson
Declaration of Independence, in Congress July 1, 1776

“When a man who is honestly mistaken hears the truth, he will either cease being mistaken, or cease being honest.”

“In order to have a fully informed understanding of what impact a word will have on my life I need to look not only at the definition of the word, I also must look at the assumption upon which the definition rests, and the implication thus created.”
— Canadian Freeman; Robert-Arthur of the family Menard

“It does not take a majority to prevail… but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.”
— Samuel Adams

“The only real revolution is in the enlightenment of the mind and the improvement of character, the only real emancipation is individual, and the only real revolutionists are philosophers and saints.””
—Will and Ariel Durant, The Lessons of History (1968), p. 72.

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious, but it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable for he is known and carries his banner openly, but the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely. His sly whispers rustling throughout all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”
— Cicero

  1. GREAT WORK, STEVE!!! Your fearless endeavor has struck gold with me, my friend, and You can trust the value of its worth! I will go to Litchfield, CT Superior Court this morning and continue to fight as a pro-se litigant the illegal home foreclosure fraud I and countless others are victims of in this State and All States, under the auspices of HUD/FHA who ‘insured’ my CHFA loan. I and many others to be sure are so encouraged and enlightened by the generosity of your shared and hard earned factual knowledge and truth that will beget Justice according to the Law of God, recorded here and throughout history with such knowledge gained by mere men throughout eons of time. Truth and Justice will prevail, to be sure and not to doubt the preservation of Liberty has been secured in countless wars, even to the one we are engaged in this very moment, by ALL the souls who have gone before Us and Stand With Us now, with Our collective boots on the ground on the land of which WE THE PEOPLE Unite, as God Be With Us, who shall stand against US now? Not ONE-for ALL the very well known and easily identified enemies of The People who have taken hostage OUR Government for The People to be used for their own evil gain may very well find their only home land in the sea, for they are acting under maritime law and under a King who WE The People know not, nor do WE Serve. In God WE Trust! Recovery through Unity, United WE Stand, Divided, the enemy does easily fall! To the same wounded knees their forced tyranny imposed upon the masses and where We have risen up time and time again by virtue of the God who saves Us All! The inspiration from these quotes and your work will go with Me today and in all my days of pro-se litigant work in which I intend to learn and educate Common Law practices and theories that are fundamental, God-given, Unalienable rights that NO man or government shall ever absolve! Not on OUR watch, Good Buddy, Comrade in Arms- God’s! The Good Guys win the war, Steve, and I for one will be glad to be marching in that number, side by side with You and all the rest of God’s warriors, when the Saints go marching in! God Bless America, God Bless the U.S.A.!
